Flights from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro airport are the easiest way of getting from the relaxation of the islands to the adventures of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

All flights to Kilimanjaro require a layover in Dar es Salaam. Flights leave from Kisauni Airport, which is located on Zanzibar’s Unguja island. Most people refer to Kisauni as Zanzibar International Airport, which has an IATA code of ZNZ. It is situated slightly south of Stone Town. After the layover, flights touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport near Mount Kilimanjaro. This airport has an IATA code of JRO.

The scheduled flying time on flights from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro is 2 hours and 30 minutes, including the layover. While flight prices fluctuate throughout the year, a one-way flight usually costs around US$200, and a round-trip flight normally costs around US$325.

There is only one airline that operates flights on this route. It is called Precision Air, and unfortunately it doesn’t have the best reputation. The airline is notorious for overbooking flights and bumping passengers to later departures without letting them know ahead of time.

To avoid this happening to you, there are two things you should do. First, call Precision Air the day before your flight from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro to reconfirm your booking. Second, show up at the airport at least three hours in advance to get your boarding pass and make sure that you have a seat on your scheduled flight.
