Many travelers hate packing yet it’s a very important part of any trip and if not well done your trip may be not as good as expected. Check out my five packing tips for trips to Uganda that will guide you during the last Uganda safari preparations.

Travel Baggage

Would recommend one big suitcase if you not a big fun of souvenirs and pack only main things. Make sure you carry something that put off rain and something warm incase in gets cold which usually happens late in the evening in some parts of the country. Those visiting Uganda for gorilla trekking tours, warm wears are a must. However, summers are hot months in Uganda –June-October and December to March so short sleeved, T-shirts would do best. Also its not culturally appropriate for women to show their thighs, So skirts/dresses below the knee, capris, or long pants are your best but only wear long pants for jungle forest adventures like gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. Uganda is a free country of every one and people in Uganda mind there business and style isn’t something that matter when it comes to vacations in the country. Those hoping to visit in April, May and November can carry same though these a known rain months of the year but Uganda is still warm since it shines after rain.

Those planning to buy souvenirs, the hand luggage will help you carry them back home in memory of a beautiful trip to Uganda. Remember, different airlines have different baggage policies so mind about the weight of your suitcase. Don’t forget comfortable running, walking and rain boots because the most forests are moist and wet even during the dry season months.

Hair and body products

Summers times in Uganda are absolutely dry and pretty ho but would advised to take lots of sun cream instead to avoid sunburn, insect repellants to protect your skin during different wildlife adventures in natural habitat areas. Pack your hair and body products since you may fail to find them in Uganda though most hair and body products are imported in order to keep you skin and hair in shape all through your stay in the pearl of Africa.

New Clothes and Hiking boots

Better not to go shopping for new clothes since some parts of Uganda have dusty roads and on some safari activities, you get dirty. Just chose among your old wears and if possible give them away as tokens after the trip and travel back home light. Long trousers are the best and comfortable for every kind of tour adventure except rafting on the Nile. Pack lightly if you will be travelling a lot a few jeans, T-shirts, Light jackets hiking boots or snearkers. If you are to explore some wetlands and swampy areas, hire gumboots at only $5 and avoid carrying heavy luggage.

Sweaters & Jacket

You will need a sweater or jacket in the evening hours while on a Uganda safari but carry something light because what is called cold is just cool weather for some travelers. Besides, if you visit the country during rainy season months, it will be one of your trip essentials despite the warm weather surrounding year round.

Health tips

Make sure you carry a medicine kit with anti-malaria since Uganda malaria is one of the diseases that disturb the country locals. Besides it’s hard to prevent a mosquito from biting you while on safari. Always wash your hand before eating anything for hygiene purposes .Carry the hand wash gel along that kills germs and use it where necessary.

Money on Safari

When you make payments of all your trip essentials it doesn’t mean that you won’t need some cash while on safari to knock off some wine and beer bottles, tipping, and to buy some souvenirs. It can be in USD or on visa card and get some money using the road side ATM machines of different banks. However, for village travels, you need to get some cash first from the city. Explore the beautiful country that is worth in Africa.
