Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth national park situated in western Uganda is among the wildlife destinations in Uganda with a variety of attractive wild animals. These range from elephants, chimpanzees, baboons, tree climbing lions, Topi’s, hippos, crocodiles and many others. Most of these are seen by tourists on game drives along the different trails and also on boat cruises along the Kazinga channel.
Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison falls national park also situated in western Uganda is another home of various wildlife species. While in this national park, one cannot fail to see animals like lions, buffaloes, hartebeests, giraffes, baboons, chimpanzees in the Budongo forest reserve, hippos along the river banks of river Nile and many other wildlife species including birds. While here, a tour to the Murchison falls is very worth as one gets a great view of the greatest waterfalls in Uganda that forms a permanent rain ball.
Tourists here can go on a boat cruise along the Nile to the Nile delta where they can view many other wildlife species including the rare shoebill stork.
Kibale Forest National Park
Those interested in enjoying chimpanzee safaris to the fullest can visit Kibale forest national park also situated in western Uganda. This national park is a home to the highest chimpanzee population in Uganda and east Africa at large and that’s why it’s called the primate capital of Uganda. Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitants is very enjoyable also offering sightings of many other wildlife species that the forest has.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Also in western Uganda is the Rwenzori mountain national park, which is a home to the snow capped mountains of the moon. Tourists interested in mountaineering are very well catered for here. This national park has other wildlife species that include the forest elephants, Giant forest hogs, and the three-horned chameleon among others.
Other unique wildlife ecosystems in Uganda include Kidepo valley national park, which is situated in northwestern Uganda, Mount Elgon national park in eastern Uganda and semuliki valley national park, also situated in western Uganda.
