World Lion Day

Today is World Lion Day. The lion – perhaps the most iconic image that comes to mind when one thinks of “Africa”. Tragically, the lions are now in danger. In the 1950’s there were thought to be around 400,000. Less than 20 years later, the population dropped in half. According to the conservation group, Panthera, the number of lions is now down to around 30,000.

I urge you to visit the site for World Lion Day; support them. I can testify to the fact that there is nothing that has stirred me like looking into the eyes of a wild lion or hearing the sound of them calling in the night. Think of them today, wherever you are and do what you can to see them for yourselves, to save them; if not for yourselves for your children- for the future.
